RESOURCE CLASS
Course Description:
Resource offers a small group setting for special education students to receive academic support with their regular education classes. Attention is given to individual student learning styles according to the needs expressed in their IEP. Resource teaches strategies and study skills needed for students to be successful in their classes.
Expectations:
A. Students will bring books, assignments, and any other material needed from their mainstreamed classes to their resource hour. (pencils, calculators, charged chromebooks, etc.)
B. Students will work cooperatively with resource staff.
C. Students will remain on task and engaged in academic activities.
Evaluation:
A. Students receive credit and a Pass/Fail (70% or higher) grade for their resource hour.
B. Students earn credit for participation and time on task in class.
C. Students will earn 5 points daily in the following areas:
Start of Class
1. Get your weekly resource sheet from the crate.
2. Sit in assigned seat.
3. Complete your daily learning objectives.
4. Complete planner or calendar.
5. Get your work out and begin working.
During Class
1. Students will check StudentVue to prioritize what assignments should be completed.
2. Resource staff will check StudentVue and assist in prioritizing what assignments should be completed.
3. If assignments are completed, continue working on other tasks such as:
End of Class
1. Put materials away.
2. Complete your Resource Sheet for the hour and put away in the proper folder in the crate.
3. Remain seated until you are dismissed.
Classroom Rules:
1. Respect others and their property.
2. Follow teacher instructions.
3. Stay on-task.
4. Bring all materials to class.
In other words:

1. You must be in the room before the bell rings.
2. Detention will be assigned every 3 tardies.

- 1 Point: Brought materials (Brings all necessary materials to class)
- 1 Point: Cooperative (Responds to teacher’s instruction without hesitation or arguing; kind to staff and peers)
- 2 Points: Stayed Focused for the hour (Works on assignments throughout the entire hour (see ‘During Class’, #3 below for more on this); does not talk or interrupt others)

- Studying vocabulary from chapter text.
- Check Chromebook, study stacks, or Quizlet to see if vocabulary flash cards are available for your classes.
- Review readings from textbooks, using RAPT, SQ4R, Two Column Note strategies, or Sum-It-Up.
- Start projects that are due in the future.
- Work on transition work as assigned by staff.
- Complete online educational activities as assigned by teacher such as Odyssey or VMath Live.
- If absolutely no work to do, you may do mandala, sudoku, math games, read a book or magazine (hard copies only).
- There will be no fidgets (or any other object deemed not needed by Resource teachers) cell phones, music, YouTube or any non-educational, non-assignment web browsing in the Resource Room.
End of Class
1. Put materials away.
2. Complete your Resource Sheet for the hour and put away in the proper folder in the crate.

Bathroom:
- You are allowed three passes per quarter.
- Your cell phone and any other electronics must be left in the room when you go to the bathroom; for that matter, any time you leave the room with a pass, you must leave your cell phone and your electronics, unless you need the electronic to work with another teacher.
- If you need to use the bathroom beyond the three passes, you will need to make-up time during your lunch, or before or after school.
- If you choose not to make-up your time, you will be given a detention.
- Warning
- Completion of re-focus form in the Options Room (teacher will call #3226, notifying student is coming).
- Detention assigned.
- Severe disruptions or repeated offences will result in office referral, removal from class (call 2336), and parent contact.

- Your cell phone, music, ear plugs must to out of sight before entering the room.
- If the teacher sees any of these items, they will be confiscated and brought to the office for pick up after school or for parent pick up.

- Please ask your parents/guardians to contact you during your lunch hour, before or after school, not during Resource.
- Any unauthorized use of your chromebooks will result in you being sent to the Media Center to receive discipline regarding an electronic violation.
- If you need to use a calculator, you may not use your cell phone or your chromebook; you may use a handheld calculator.
- If you are not happy with a direction given by the teacher, you may politely give your opinion. If the teacher continues to direct you in a way you do not agree, you may set up a time to meet with the teacher on your own time (during your lunch, before or after school).
